Missouri LANE to concentrate on person-centered care in 2015

July 02, 2015

According to the Advancing Excellence newsletter, the Missouri LANE's (MOLANE) special focus for 2015 is person-centered care (PCC). "Selfie" tips have been developed and sent monthly to over 1,000 Missouri nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Welcoming new residents; developing a good picture of a resident through care planning conferences, and providing meaningful choices throughout the day are some of their tips. The MOLANE is also planning a webinar series focused on PCC issues. Topics will include: defining a PCC culture and leadership; communication to support PCC culture; using the AE PCC tools and resources; hearing from a home who uses the AE PCC tools; and several other topics. Webinars are scheduled for this fall and free to any Missouri home.

Above, members present at the June meeting in Jefferson City, MO, include: (left to right) Sally McKee (Board of Nursing Home Administrators); Kay Dinolfo (State Long-Term Care Ombudsman); Julie Ballard (Missouri Coalition Celebrating Care Continuum Change - MC5, the culture change coalition); Cindy Wrigley (Mo Association of Nursing Home Administrators); Shelly Williamson (Assistant Section Administrator, Division of Regulation and Licensure -- DRL); Deborah Finley (Primaris); Joan Devine (MC5); Carol Scott (AE); Kristen Edwards (Section Administrator, DRL); Sam Plaster (State Culture Change Coordinator, DRL); and Leslie Sebastian (Communications Representative, DRL.
