Fifteen state elder abuse working groups included in this document were categorized as short-term or long-term and included: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Iowa, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, and Tennessee. They were compared based on their establishment, purpose, and current status.

On March 30, 2016, the Department of Justice announced the launch of 10 regional Elder Justice Task Forces. These teams will bring together federal, state and local prosecutors, law enforcement, and agencies that provide services to the elderly to coordinate and enhance efforts to pursue nursing homes that provide grossly substandard care.
