California Ombudsman Program Representative, Rachel Tate, Contributes to NCEA Blog on Changes in Long-Term Care

July 30, 2021

The National Center on Elder Abuse (NCEA) released a new blog by Lori Mars titled, Beyond COVID-19: Changes in Long-Term Care. This blog was written with the assistance and expertise of Rachel Tate, Regional and Special Projects Director for the Long-term Care Ombudsman program at WISE and Health Aging in Los Angeles California. This blog discusses how throughout the past year-and-a-half, long-term care ombudsmen have worked tirelessly to relieve the suffering and isolation experienced by residents, but the charge to improve the lives and relieve the traumas of institutionalized older adults is not theirs alone. The blog mentions how systems change is long overdue and how regulatory reforms and person-centered culture change are needed to assure residents the quality of care and lives they deserve.
