Connecticut Ombudsman, Mairead Painter, Co-Wrote an Op-Ed on Build Back Better

Connecticut Ombudsman, Mairead Painter, Co-Wrote an Op-Ed with Judith Stein, Executive Director of the Center for Medicare Advocacy, to encourage congress to pass Build Back Better in order to protect long-term care residents. 

Mairead and Judith discussed the impact COVID-19 has had on residents and staff of long-term care facilities. They also go through each of the provisions within the Build Back Better Act (BBB) which would directly impact residents and staff, and improve resident quality of life. Mairead and Judith also address the largest argument against increased staffing, which is that it has been difficult enough to find staff without provisions for increased staff. In response to this, they share that BBB will include funding for staff recruitment and training in long-term care facilities.
