Minnesota Ombudsman Program Works to Legalize Surveillance Cameras in Senior Care Facilities

Residents in nursing homes and assisted living facilities in Minnesota can now legally have surveillance cameras installed in their rooms, allowing their loved ones to keep tabs on their health. Before this law, which went into effect Jan. 1, there was no legislation protecting residents' use of surveillance cameras, which can give families peace of mind and are useful if they suspect abuse.
