Ohio State Ombudsman, Beverley Laubert, is Interviewed on Visitation Restrictions in Nursing Homes

Beverley Laubert, Ohio State Long-Term Care Ombudsman, was interviewed by the Dayton Daily News regarding long-term care residents’ rights and visitation scheduling. Recently COVID-19 mandates have been lifted by Governor Mike DeWine, some of the guidelines apply to nursing home facilities. Laubert said that while many visiting rules have already been lifted, scheduling has been difficult at some homes, and these restrictions are hard on the families. This is ultimately due to the decreased amount of staffing that does not meet the requirement for escorting visitors in facilities. Ohio’s Long-Term Care Ombudsman Office has been advocating for residents and families to continue to reach out for help and exercise their rights. These residents have faced isolation and a decline in well-being over the pandemic, and the office is encouraging families to expect quality of care.
