Rhode Island State Ombudsman, Kathy Heren, is Quoted in an Article on Advocating to Keep Residents Safe and Connected During the Coronavirus Pandemic

April 08, 2020

WPRI Eyewitness News in Rhode Island interviewed Kathy Heren, State Long-Term Care Ombudsman, on how facilities and the Ombudsman program are working together to keep residents safe and connected during the coronavirus pandemic. The article says, “while almost two dozen of Rhode Island’s COVID-19-related deaths are connected to nursing homes, Heren told Eyewitness News she’s extremely proud of the staff members who continue to work toward keeping residents safe.” Kathy discusses how facilities and the Ombudsman program had to find creative ways for family members to communicate, such as using cards, letters, or setting up FaceTime calls.
