Hawaii State Ombudsman, John McDermott, was interviewed by the Honolulu Civil Beat on staffing shortages in long-term care facilities. Federal funding that helped bring travel nurses to Hawaii from the mainland is no longer available, said McDermott. He also said that the problem is worse on smaller islands that have fewer resources.
