***This webinar discusses how individuals representing historically marginalized communities are impacted (both as residents in long-term care and Ombudsman program representatives) and shares examples of racist treatment, including racial slurs.***
Diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) are essential components for creating a foundation that ensures fair treatment and full participation of all individuals, especially those that have been underrepresented and marginalized.
This webinar covered how to thoughtfully and purposefully start to focus on DEIA principles internally; how your program (and the residents you serve) will benefit when you apply a DEIA lens to your management, processes, and advocacy; and a local perspective on experiences and considerations. NORC also introduced a new tool for program self-assessment.
Thank you to our speakers, Cheryl Hennen, Minnesota State Long-Term Care Ombudsman; Kelly Richards, Illinois State Long-Term Care Ombudsman; and Tasia Stackhouse, Ombudsman program representative, Waccamaw Regional Council of Governments, South Carolina LTCOP.
