Hawaii State Ombudsman, John McDermott, Wrote an Article About Adult Care Home Inspections

In an article published in the Honolulu Civil Beat titled, “Problems with Hawaii’s Care Homes Must Be Fixed Now,” John McDermott discusses the importance of unannounced annual inspections in long-term care facilities. When John became the State Ombudsman in 1998 he was shocked to discover the Hawaii Department of Health is required by state law to notify adult residential care homes when they are coming for their annual inspections.
