New Jersey State Ombudsman, Laurie Brewer, spoke to Planet Princeton on an abrupt nursing home closure in Princeton, New Jersey. Some families who had loved ones in the facility received calls informing them the facility was closing the same date and their parents would need to be relocated by the end of the day. Laurie Brewer said the state was just as surprised as families and three staff members from the Ombudsman office were then sent to the facility to help families and residents. Her staff will also be following up with all the residents after their moves to make sure things are going smoothly in their new homes. Laurie said, “This type of move is very traumatic for residents and families and should be avoided at all costs.”
