The New Jersey State Ombudsman, Laurie Brewer, Was Quoted Discussing Silver Healthcare, a NJ Problem Facility

Laurie Brewer was interviewed for a recent article discussing Silver Healthcare, a nursing home in New Jersey, and the program's monitoring this facility.

Laurie said that Silver Healthcare is an example of how nursing homes can quickly decline, and that the Ombudsman program has learned from this and has increased the frequency of visits for lower-rated facilities. She also acknowledged that Silver is receiving Medicaid money to address infection control and quality of care. 

Additionally, Laurie touched on the need for greater nursing home ownership transparency and oversight, which she acknowledges the state has made progress on, but still needs to make more changes.
