Camille Russell, Kansas State Long-Term Care Ombudsman, was interviewed by AP News on advocating for resident’s rights and visitation changes during COVID-19. Investigating officials are calling the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services to limit visitation in homes that are not open due to the Delta variant, believing it will cause new facility lockdowns.

Ohio Ombudsman program representative, Bob Vines, provides a message to facility providers regarding updates and changes to the regional Ombudsman program. Vines said that one of the primary goals is making regular in-person visits in response to many complaints, hiring a full-time Ombudsman volunteer coordinator position, and hiring a helpline Ombudsman.

Amid the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Medicaid cost gap widened and the need for financial resources in reimbursement rates and staffing wages increased drastically.
