Across the state of Maryland, family members have had to weigh the pros and cons of having their loved ones live in nursing facilities versus living at home with them. Family members are concerned about the separation that comes from in-person visitation being forbidden as well as being afraid that staff are not taking the proper safety precautions when caring for their loved ones.

Kathleen Heren, Rhode Island State Long-Term Care Ombudsman, said in an email to the Providence Journal that she’d received reports that three nursing homes had taken residents’ stimulus checks. “I turned them in to the AG,” Heren said.
